If you have any concerns about coverage, we recommend that you use our
Comprehensive Background Check
instead. That combination of the national criminal database plus counties of residence ensures the
highest level of coverage.
The geographic limits referenced here are for the national criminal background check used on its own.
All our reports follow the legal requirements for employment
screening. We show all convictions within the last 10 years as permitted by law, and may also show
convictions older than that depending on jurisdiction and offense.
Events that did not lead to a conviction will
not show up if they are older than 7 years. We will not show arrest records,
due to guidance from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
State laws in your area may impose further restrictions on what we are
permitted to show you.
Some jurisdictions do not participate with any database
service. In those cases a manual search of court records should be
done, via the Comprehensive Background Check
(businesses only) or
County Criminal Check (businesses and individuals).
Our database is one of the most
comprehensive available -- if
we don't have it, other database search sites won't have it either.
Depending on the state in which you use our reports, results may be limited by the
restrictions imposed by that state. Some states do not permit any records to be shown that
are older than 7 years, even convictions -- even if those records come from another state.
This is the most common restriction, but others
can apply. Please consult your state laws for more details.
If we find a potential record, we will verify that it matches your candidate, is up to date,
and legally reportable, protecting you and your company. We will investigate all possible
matches including those without a date of birth from the initial source.
Our wide net combined with verification means that we typically find 4x the number of records compared to other database
service providers.

We include the sex offender registries of all 50 states, including those without date of birth information --
we verify all results. Active registrations will be shown independent of date.
Government Watchlists
We include OIG / LEIE medical exclusions, OFAC, and individuals prohibited from doing business with
